BIO
Ian Waelder Vásquez (b. 1993, Madrid) is a Spanish artist and publisher from Mallorca. He graduated in Fine Arts from the Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main in 2023, where he studied as a Meisterschüler under Prof. Haegue Yang.

Recent solo exhibitions and presentations include Kestner Gesellschaft (Hannover, 2025), carlier | gebauer (Berlin, 2025), LISTE with diez gallery (Basel, 2024), Super Super Markt (Berlin, 2024), or Es Baluard Museu d’Art Contemporani (Palma, 2023–24), among others.
Group exhibitions have taken place at institutions and galleries such as Kunsthalle Wien (Vienna), ifa Galerie (Berlin), nsdoku (München), Petrine (Paris), Fundació Antoni Tàpies (Barcelona), Delfina Foundation (London), carlier | gebauer (Berlin), Francis Irv (New York), Kunstverein Wiesen (Wiesen), Nassauischer Kunstverein (Wiesbaden), Salón (Madrid), and La Casa Encendida (Madrid), among others.
During his studies at the Städelschule, he participated in publications and readings within Mark von Schlegell’s Pure Fiction seminar at Kölnischer Kunstverein (Cologne), Kunsthalle Portikus (Frankfurt am Main), Johanne (Frankfurt am Main), and Ashley (Berlin).
Artist residencies include Laurenz-Haus Foundation (Basel, 2025–26), WIELS – Center for Contemporary Art (Brussels, 2024), and HANGAR – Centro de Investigação Artística (Lisbon, 2016). Recent awards and grants include the basis Hessisches Atelier Programm (2025–29), the DZ BANK Kunststiftung Grant (2023–24), and the Städelschule Portikus e.V. Graduation Prize (2023).
In addition to his practice as an artist, Waelder is the founder of Printer Fault Press, a small-scale publishing house and collaborative platform that provides space for the work of fellow artists, curators and writers.
